Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG you sink into on a long train ride and forget the time. You build a party of four, each with distinct roles, and work through a world that slowly reveals a decent bit of lore without drowning you in it. Combat is turn-based with a timing element on skills, so there's just enough active input to keep you awake.
The gear and skill trees are deep without being overwhelming. We spent a happy evening just respeccing our tank to see how far we could push a defensive build. Boss fights actually demand you read patterns rather than mash attack, which is refreshing.
It leans a little grindy in the mid-game, and we'd have liked faster travel. But the writing carries it, and the character banter between fights genuinely made us smile.
What we liked
- Party members with real personality
- Meaningful skill trees to experiment with
- Boss fights reward pattern reading
